Sistering is a volunteer program for women who have experienced violence, trauma or other forms of oppression. The Sisters are at a stage in their personal healing journey where they are able to offer support, through mentorship, to other women.
This program offers an initial and ongoing volunteer training process which includes paraprofessional skill development, opportunities for personal growth and the creation of a supportive community through leadership.
“Mentor sisters” are then matched one-to-one with a woman who has experienced violence or trauma. The Mentoring Sister accompanies her as she begins or continues her healing. The Sistering Program also sponsors workshops for the community on the impact of violence on our families, society and culture.
